After my recent
motorcycle accident, I spent some time recuperating at my sister's shore house just off of
the Barnegat Bay. As you enter the house, you walk up a short flight of steps to a
landing, and then turn for another short flight of steps. The wall of this landing is
11'6" high and 7' wide. It was the perfect place to paint a mural. I continued
the seascape onto the adjoining side walls to the stairs and even partly on the
ceiling. I was happy with the detail in the sand and land plants, but because of my
injury, I had a very hard time with the palms. All in all, at 12' high, the lack of
detail on the palms seemed to add depth while standing beneath them. For my first
attempt at painting a mural, it worked out well. |
